Integrating Code Blog ~ May 6
I think being a producer is a lot more fun than being a consumer because we get to create it and make it your own. Media is still as just as cool as it was before but now I get to use it and create it.
Pseudocode and Commented Coding Blog ~ May 6
Use the language you developed in this topic to write a step-by-step explanation of your game. Review the game descriptions of other students in your Knowledge Community and provide constructive criticism, or suggest tutorials that may help them execute their game ideas.
Development Plan Blog ~ May 6
The most difficult topic to teach in my game is the counties. There are 55 and it's hard to teach without it being overwhelming or boring. I played some more games and I decided to do one region of the WV counties and hide them within a scene so they are hard to find.
Adding Sound ~ May 6
I plan to use sounds a throughout my game. I want to have different songs for my intro, levels, badges, cabin scenery, and mini game. It will enhance my game by making it more entertaining to play. So my game will be more appealing!
I'm going to use findsounds.com to help find the sounds for my badges. I want to use some music I found in iMovie but I'm having trouble with compatible formats.

Adding Input II: Mouse ~ April 8
WELLLLLLL, (don't take off points for that grammar because it's emphasizing what I'm thinking in my head) my game is in the Civics Knowledge Community. My game topic is about West Virginia trivia. So the problem is that there is no other person who is doing their game about this kind of West Virginia facts. I have started my game and it's coming on pretty well. I have till the end of this month to get it done and I am crunching time! I'll get it done though, I AM DETERMINED!
Adding Input I: Keyboard ~ April 8
So far I am really enjoying my Game Design II class. I find all of the assignments to be fairly easy. I like all of the people in my class because they are all very entertaining. I like working in flash. I do because I really like drawing in it. In real life I have a really hard time drawing and it never looks like what I want, but in flash it helps me out a little and so everything I draw looks really good. I also like the fact that you can bring characters to life with coding. It's fun to know that you made the character come to life.

Presenting Your Game Demo ~ April 6
- Game Demo Presentation
VLOG
Adding Animation ~ April 6
This is an animation that relates to my game. This flowing flag has a West Virginia state seal on it. My game is about W.V. and it's nature. So of course the West Virginia state seal relates to a West Virginia game :)
Assembling Your Demo ~ April 6
I think I have learned more about the topic of my game while making the demo. I have learned a lot more about the animals and different types of nature that West Virginia has in it. I acquired this knowledge by researching and taking notes about it and then relaying it into my game demo.
If I talked to the journalists or any researcher or writer I would tell them that they need to make a West Virginia Nature information page that is more interesting than what they have now. Most of the plain out information sites I find are just words and I cannot sit there and read forever. That's not interesting. I WANT PICTURES! :)
When it comes to Game Design classes, the whole curriculum is a self learning experience. When in this class you go through the assignments by yourself and read to figure out how to do things. If you mess up you look up tutorials so you can teach yourself what to do. This class requires a lot of self motivation. If you don't want to do this stuff, you won't enjoy or maybe even not pass the class.

Adding Buttons ~ March 9
There isn't any other students who are doing a game about West Virginia so I searched and found a link that pertains to what my game is. Here is the link. I think this resource is useful because it has a lot of information and beautiful pictures about West Virginia nature. The most useful thing is the pictures because I can study and design my game stye after it! Below is a picture from the site.
Adding a Scene ~ March 8
I think making games in sequences are very important. If you don't then the player doesn't know what's going on! I will be using sequences in my game, it will go from the title to the instructions to level one, two, and three. Then the vacation spot at the end so you know the game is over. A game I played in Playing to Learn was that game about how to make the right choices called What Would You Do?. You read conversations and chose what you wanted your characters to say so you could follow along and be in the story.

Drawing a Scene ~ March 3
What I learned isn't so much something I didn't know and just recently learned how to do. It's more like realizing something I never saw before! What I learned was how awesome Tweens are! I first learned how to do Tweens in Digital Imaging and all we did was make a ball bounce and shift shapes. For my drawing a scene I had my clouds get bigger and smaller, make my text "come in to" the screen, and make another text move up and down. If you go to My Projects you can see how cool it is! I was excited! I didn't use any sources to figure out my blog. I did forget how to do Tweens but I figured it out. For my personal learning technique it's better for me to learn my figuring things out, as well as "trial and error."

Planning Your Game ~ February 15
Team Logo ^^

Answers to Princess Waybright's questions shown in comments:
I'm looking forward to being able to control the situation. Makes me sound like a crazy person but it's true. I get to do what i want, when i want, and make what I want. MY partner last year wasn't very corporative so maybe that's why I feel I will enjoy why I'll like working by myself. The only thing I am worried about is getting things done on time sine its a workload for one now.

Imagining Your Game ~ February 10
- WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.)
- I am designing my game for 4th grade students who are just beginning to learn about West Virginia's History.
- WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!)
- They will be learning West Virginia's basic facts like...the state animal, bird, flower, and tree. Who founded West Virginia and when. Many more facts are soon to come.
- WHERE does your game happen?
- Describe the world you will design for your game.
- The "world" that the player will be the "wild and wonderful" scenery of the great state West Virginia!
- How will this setting add to the learning experience?
- Having this setting will help them understand what West Virginia looks like and why they got the reputation that they have.
- HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic?
- What happens in the world that helps the player learn? What happens is that the player is able to interact with this world. They are able to click in places and learn facts, as well as learning the "little things" about West Virginia by looking at the scenery around them.
- How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
- The player can used what they learned too later drag and drop things into a scene that will make up all the facts they learned about West Virginia.
- WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?
- This game is better than a quiz because the player is able to interact with the game and actually be taught the subject instead of reading two sentences about the topic and then be thrown into a quiz and expected to know everything.

February 7 ~ Playing to Learn
The genre I am most interested in using is Action. I would like for the player to interact with my game as much as possible. I want them to be able to move the character with the arrows, drag and drop, hit test, and etc. I chose this genre and not the others because I think the puzzle and strategy games requires too much brain work. I didn't use racing games or sports because those genres don't interest me and I feel I can't make the game my best when I don't like it as well. I also I know that sounds bad but seriously kids like games when they don't really have to think. I want to be able to make a game that kids are learning without really even knowing it! Having an educational game that enables kids to have fun
I played Robot Unicorn today.

February 4 ~ Choosing A Topic
My name is Lindsey. I'm a senior at Elkins High/ Randolph Techincal Center. I am also an intern with Globaloria.
My game idea is to make an educational game about West Virginia History. During my game the player will learn facts like the state capital, animal, insect, tree, fruit, moto, and many more. These links will help me because they have a lot of facts and valuable information about all things West Virginia. They have all of the facts that I was hoping to incorporate into my game.

February 2 ~ Internet Privacy
In school they teach students stranger danger, not to cross the street by yourself, always have a buddy and etc. All of those things are very important to a child's safety but there is something very important that they are leaving out. Internet Privacy. Internet privacy doesn't have to be taught just to children, it should be taught to people of all ages! I feel that through out your whole educational career I think you should be required to take and Internet Safety course.
There are many things you can do on the internet. Buy things, sell things, view things. There are social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, and dating websites. All of which can require personal information. If you don't know the right precautions the wrong people can get a hold of you and your information. They can take your information and track you down and put you in danger! They can also STEAL your money, accounts, and even your IDENTITY!
Internet has become a subject that links everyone all around the world so it is very important to practice Internet Privacy and Safety.

We are living in exponential times, Sir.
I thought the video "Did You Know?" was very informative and yet appealing in a modern way. (The music was awesome. :D ) The video made me think about how our world is advancing so much, mostly in technology. Which brings me to my input about living in exponential times. Growing up, our generation has witnessed I think to be the "most exponential growth" of all time. From the time of when we were little we had the first known computers to the iPads today. (Shown below) We went from one to the other in slightly over a decade!
Two years ago if you set me in front on an Mac I would have had no idea how to turn it on, right click, open the internet, NOTHING! Guess what? That did happen to me, two years ago. I was so confused, but the computers were so new and appealing that I wanted to learn how to use them. I'm glad that I did because doing so I got to take all of these awesome classes like Digital Imaging, Web Page, and Game Design. Now I prefer to use the Mac over the PC.
