Planning Your Game ~ February 15
Team Logo ^^
Picture that has to do with my game^^
Answers to Princess Waybright's questions shown in comments:
I'm looking forward to being able to control the situation. Makes me sound like a crazy person but it's true. I get to do what i want, when i want, and make what I want. MY partner last year wasn't very corporative so maybe that's why I feel I will enjoy why I'll like working by myself. The only thing I am worried about is getting things done on time sine its a workload for one now.

Imagining Your Game ~ February 10
- WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.)
- I am designing my game for 4th grade students who are just beginning to learn about West Virginia's History.
- WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!)
- They will be learning West Virginia's basic facts like...the state animal, bird, flower, and tree. Who founded West Virginia and when. Many more facts are soon to come.
- WHERE does your game happen?
- Describe the world you will design for your game.
- The "world" that the player will be the "wild and wonderful" scenery of the great state West Virginia!
- How will this setting add to the learning experience?
- Having this setting will help them understand what West Virginia looks like and why they got the reputation that they have.
- HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic?
- What happens in the world that helps the player learn? What happens is that the player is able to interact with this world. They are able to click in places and learn facts, as well as learning the "little things" about West Virginia by looking at the scenery around them.
- How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
- The player can used what they learned too later drag and drop things into a scene that will make up all the facts they learned about West Virginia.
- WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?
- This game is better than a quiz because the player is able to interact with the game and actually be taught the subject instead of reading two sentences about the topic and then be thrown into a quiz and expected to know everything.

February 7 ~ Playing to Learn
The genre I am most interested in using is Action. I would like for the player to interact with my game as much as possible. I want them to be able to move the character with the arrows, drag and drop, hit test, and etc. I chose this genre and not the others because I think the puzzle and strategy games requires too much brain work. I didn't use racing games or sports because those genres don't interest me and I feel I can't make the game my best when I don't like it as well. I also I know that sounds bad but seriously kids like games when they don't really have to think. I want to be able to make a game that kids are learning without really even knowing it! Having an educational game that enables kids to have fun
I played Robot Unicorn today.

February 4 ~ Choosing A Topic
My name is Lindsey. I'm a senior at Elkins High/ Randolph Techincal Center. I am also an intern with Globaloria.
My game idea is to make an educational game about West Virginia History. During my game the player will learn facts like the state capital, animal, insect, tree, fruit, moto, and many more. These links will help me because they have a lot of facts and valuable information about all things West Virginia. They have all of the facts that I was hoping to incorporate into my game.

February 2 ~ Internet Privacy
In school they teach students stranger danger, not to cross the street by yourself, always have a buddy and etc. All of those things are very important to a child's safety but there is something very important that they are leaving out. Internet Privacy. Internet privacy doesn't have to be taught just to children, it should be taught to people of all ages! I feel that through out your whole educational career I think you should be required to take and Internet Safety course.
There are many things you can do on the internet. Buy things, sell things, view things. There are social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, and dating websites. All of which can require personal information. If you don't know the right precautions the wrong people can get a hold of you and your information. They can take your information and track you down and put you in danger! They can also STEAL your money, accounts, and even your IDENTITY!
Internet has become a subject that links everyone all around the world so it is very important to practice Internet Privacy and Safety.
